Characteristics of a good essay

Harmony :
The subject matter must be clearly defined on the landscape of brain. Irrelevent matter must be avoided. There must be a unity and solidarity. The wordings of the subject must be well defined and arranged in mind.

Pattern :
An essay should follow a proper pattern and matter must be written in sequence. It should not contain a mixed reflection of vision. Each topic must have its appropriate space. Important and weighty ideas must be given in a certain order.

Compactness :
An essay should be compact. An school essay may contain about 150 words. The brevity depends upon the nature of the subject matter. There is no strict rule and limitation as to its length.

Style of Writing & Sentence Structure :
Style should be clear, simple and well expressed. The language and structure should be artless, natural and comprehensible. An essay should be the revelation of personal feelings and opinions of the writer. It should consist of individual ideas and expressions. Personal opinions must be unsophisticated, direct and plain.
